Understanding the Available Classes
Class availability can vary by division. Use this guide as a starting point and verify your individual eligibility during registration.
🏆 Open
Open classes are available to eligible adult competitors regardless of whether they are first-time athletes or experienced competitors. Open class winners may advance to an Overall comparison when offered.
🌟 True Novice
True Novice is intended for an athlete competing in an NPC contest for the first time. The competitor must not have previously competed in an NPC show.
🥈 Novice
Novice is available to an eligible NPC athlete who has not placed within the top 10 at a national-level competition, subject to current NPC eligibility requirements.
🛡️ Hero
The Hero category recognizes eligible first responders, active-duty military personnel, veterans, retired military personnel and qualifying front-line emergency-room doctors and nurses.
👑 Masters
Masters classes are organized by age. Eligible competitors may be able to enter their own age category as well as younger Masters categories offered within their division.
🎓 Juniors
Competitors ages 18 through 23 may be eligible for the Junior class when it is offered within their division.

Masters competitors may be eligible to enter their current age class and younger Masters categories. The chart below follows the class structure shown for the event.

60+, 55+, 50+, 45+, 40+ and 35+, when offered for the athlete’s division.

⚠️ Women’s Fit Model Rule
Competitors entered in the Women’s Fit Model division cannot compete in other divisions at the same event.
Fit Model competitors should select eligible classes within the Fit Model division and should not cross over into Bikini, Wellness, Figure or another NPC division.
